calm down , calm down
i love GW .. all things r nice ..
my first char is necro and its born in tyria .. i was playing 3 month with him , u know .. yea i have nice MM , but when i see to others Golem Flesh , i say to myself .. i need factions !! when i see nice weapon like Gials staff , i say to myself .. i need factions
yea factions is short, but its harder then prophecies, much harder , prophecies ir long if u do all story line not runing from beacons to droks ..
Elona ? elona its boring 2 do aal misions again and again .. but i like it 2 because there is heros ..
u know all camps ar similar , no factions no nice weapons , no elona no heros , no prophecies no GW feeling .. i love GW
its my favorit game forever ..
1. prophecies is feeling of guildwars + skill rewards + i love misions in prophecies
2. factions is short if u do only one way .. like kurziks or luxons .. best weapons in game , very nice skills like a Flesh Golem, new chars Rt and Assasin ( someone say assasin suck) u know without his shadow skills (Sadow Form) u cant easy run, u cant easy farm..
3. NF is nice but only wery boring game play , i hate do all NF again and again with others chars , good thing hero + inscription for weapons .. new skills ( wurms ) , new chars , paragon and dervish .. no dervish as secondary no runing all around GW !! )
and again I love GW , all game are very good !!

It is a short campaign, but I love the City. It is a spectacular place and I love the gentle murmuring music in the background. My first character was Canthan, maybe that has something to do with it.
Some of my favourite missions are in Cantha also. Vizunah Square is well up there with Nahpui Quarter. The timed missions aren't *so* bad, but the "bonus" parts of Tyrian and Elonian missions did make them a little more interesting I guess.

Factions was 2nd best of the 4...here they are in order of replayability:
Nightfall
Factions
GW:EN
Prophecies -- WAY too long and boring and huge place to run around but nothing to do or gain from doing it ... a-net should add some more greens or other weps there to make it worthwhile now that we have tomes there is no reason to go there

Factions = worst of the group
Timed Bonus
Primary character is a in and out soft attacker and the main antagonists completely slay melee with their explosion.
10k alliance quests
Jade Quarry/Fort Aspenwood (even when it was new they were subpar at best)
AB while being a major positive to the game, the delay to enter is just ridiculous
16 man missions where you end up with n00bsauce on the other side with their met shower warriors and no monks.
Mazelike areas, including kaineng center making it difficult to traverse.
PS Shiro's blade used to be q 15, the 13 is a major improvement.

You have to love factions. I have played through it many times and enjoyed it every time. Where else can you smack around Puss balls that wield hammers, and explode. Not to mention the falling ceiling in the arborstone mission. The feeling you got on your first attempt. Mine was- What the “F” just interrupted me? Come on I can’t get meteor shower off!!!!!!!!!! Come on man quit it!!!!!! man I can’t rez!!!!!!!!!!! Heal me monk !!!!!!!!! Come on man what the heck I am starting to lose my team. After it was over I thought This is uber hard man what the F how am I going to finish this game. Of course now it is easy but as you progress in the world of GW your skills at playing do as well. I almost forgot remember the first time you played the two team missions. Where they not Wow this is kinda cool. The initial coolness feeling does fade rather quickly but for that first time it was pretty LEET

I think it matters what campain you start out in. I started out in nightfall then went to factions and I didn't like faction because it was too short so therefore I liked nightfall better.

Well, from what it seems like, Factions was an attempt by Anet to focus more on the PvP side. Traditional PvE players probably took the fall in that regard.
Factions always seemed very gloomy to me, and didn't give me the same feeling that nf and proph did. I dunno. That's just my 2 cents though.

Factions is by far my least favorite. One of the things that has always bothered me is the fact that every town and explorable area seems to be blocked off until you meet a bunch of prerequisites to open them up. I'm particularly annoyed by this at the moment because yesterday I decided that I might as well get a black Moa chick, mostly to just explore (I've never done Sorrow's Furnace) and take a break from missions + EoTN dungeons, which is all I've been doing lately. However! After spending all my time playing the other three games I completely forgot that Factions blocks all the entrances to everything. So I found out (after obtaining the egg, incubator, and most of the stuff to put in the incubator) that my Luxon character needs to farm an assload of Kurzick faction and then do a mission in order to even access the Mourning Veil Falls explorable area. I can understand not allowing players to access some things right away, like elite areas or the stuff at the end of Nightfall, but with Factions why did they decide to purposely keep people from freely exploring the regular map?! (And if previous experiences with Factions are any indication, when I finally get to the Eternal Grove mission the entire outpost will be deserted except for one ranger whose primary damage comes from meteor shower, or something.)
Also, the city/slum area is the largest, ugliest, most frustratingly maze-like area in Guild Wars, and 90% of the quests involve nothing but running back and forth from one end to another. Yuck. I totally agree with the above poster about how the game is too gloomy. By the way, I'm so glad that a thread exists for me to (virtually!) yell about this. Thanks.

Factions has: AB, some skills... maybe include Rt...
That's all, everything else in it sucks.
EDIT: Prophecies last? Are you kidding me.. It's by far the best one.

You forgot the horrendous voice acting. But saying that there are plenty of good things in Factions. Good elites, Aspenwood, AB, female monk and mesmer models, kurzick elite armors are pretty good. I loved noobie island and kurzick forests. the jade sea is pretty good also, but i prefer the forest. For all the bad things about Factions I still mark it as second in my GW list.
1. Prophecies - good story, free skills, very different environments
2. Factions - already mentioned
3. EotN - back to Tyria, kill lots of Charr, dungeons, good weapon skins and some good armors
4. Nightfall - Environments were all the same which was you could forgive but on the second, third, fourth etc time through..... The monsters that would split and become invicible for a small amount of time was as stupid as exploiding enemies. Some misions where extremely anoying.

These things makes Factions the worst of the 3 chapters.
Nightfall was a great improvement compared to Factions, but it will still only be second on my list, when comparing the 3 chapters.

Forced PvP? You don't have to do a single type of PvP in Factions at all. Factions had many PvP elements to it, yes but forced PvP? Whatever suits your own little dreamworld.
Not everyone likes to do a slow storyline, Factions did the attribute quests early which was a huge plus and the storyline is subjective on either people like it or not.
I think a lot of people are easily over exaggerating on how "bad" Factions is, its actually extremely good for many different reason which the typical PvE player likes. Anet tried to push PvE mix with PvP and it seem's that a lot of people dislike it for whatever reason, however what really gets me is that people say the art in Factions is bad, it is not. Its actually extremely good and It seems that people just dislike the city art.

Dislike:
Too dark and gloomy.
Some henchies are really annoying and rude, if you spend time reading what they actually say
Too much Afflicted fighting is boring.
Quests in Kaineng area are just too monotonous.
Questionable and unclear intention of Shiro which apparently gets revealed in NF.
Like:
Master Togo.
Ritualist.

To be honest, i love Factions.
Imho, Prophecies == Factions > Nightfall > GWEN, though i like them all very much.
I love the fast pace that factions has, which implies maximum efficiency, in fact, it's a great training ground for monks due to the constant spikes. It is where I have create my main (6M exp points and still going)
caracter, a monk, and Kaineng City is the place to learn how to play one (it's like a crash course).
Plus i love the contrast you have to endure (Shing Jea -> Kaineng City ->Echovald Forest/Jade Sea).
Everyone is entitle to their opinion, but hey!!, you are not alone
Cheers

In order to gain faction points you had to do PvP. Yes it is possible to gain small amount of faction by doing PvE but if you really wanted to collect points for the amber and jade, you had to do PvP. And now with the PvE skills to be effective you need to PvP even more.

+ and - of Factions.
+ It's so damn cool
+ feel
+ fast level up for professional players who hate slow gain
+ No stupid bonus missions, time matters.
+ Nice missions
+ Beautiful*
- Damn annoying start
- Kaineng city is too large and 40% is unused terrirory
- Too fast level gain is bad for newbies
- New players may hate that when they go to mainland at lv. 14 first they see are lv. 24 afflicted and lv. 20 Am Fah and those silly purple knights.
- Master Togo dies instead of Mhenlo ()
- Am Fah ninja assaults. I got bored of ambushes in Old Ascalon devourers already.
I love Factions, it's definately my favourite campaign
* Shiverpeaks are MOST beautiful place in GW

I <3 Factions.
It is my favorite GW campaign. I like the dark and gloomy stuff. The city slums are awesome and uniqe in GW. I really like all of the Asian inspired art in the game as well.
I have 10 characters and have no desire to complete Prophecies again, but I always find myself taking a new character through Factions. I just have a lot of fun playing it.

You only "need" to get 10k faction which can be done by quests. You don't actually need to get amber or jade, you can also actually buy them at the trader which they are pretty cheap.
The PvP but its hard to say that AB\Fort Aspenwood is PvP is just an alternative way on getting jade or amber. The skills are just there for the PvE community to enjoy, really... you don't "need" the skills at all and heaven forbid that anet tries to make PvE even easier.
The point is that there is no "forced" PvP which a lot of people make it out to be and that people like yourself are just forcing yourself to do the PvP, because you want something that is pretty insignificant in the first place.

I don't HATE factions, but there are elements that I did not like.
The whole get 10k faction to continue.
The timed missions. I don't mind timers for SOME missions, but for many of these missions the timer amount seems crazy IMO.
Just didn't grab me like Prophecies did.

QFT.
Also, I hate the models. Really. I cannot stand the looks of the characters.
Proph > NF > GWEN > Fac.
Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary. Not to be taken internally.
